BACKGROUND:

The Social Science Planning Team (SSPT) is a newly created Council group established to improve the quality and application of social science data used to inform fisheries management and program evaluation in the medium to long term. This group convened a public conference call on November 14, 2017. The SSPT further refined its scope, discussed priority areas for SSPT efforts, and began developing a plan for the first official in-person meeting (May 2018, Anchorage). This agenda item consists of a brief meeting summary. The SSPT has also proposed new members, the Council should make appointments as appropriate.
